Consept builds the diagnostic tools and organizational frameworks that help funders, lenders, and intermediaries know what they’re actually investing in — and help the organizations they back perform at the level the investment requires.
I spent two decades assessing organizational capacity as a component of credit risk at leading national financial intermediaries — including the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), where I originated a $15M+ loan and grant portfolio. Before a dollar moved, I had to know whether the organization could execute. That underwriting logic is the foundation of everything Consept builds.

Communities and the capital behind them share the same problem: the gap between what an organization intends to do and what it’s actually equipped to execute. Consept closes that gap — through diagnostics, consulting, and frameworks built on practitioner-grade underwriting logic.
BoardPulse is our primary diagnostic instrument — a structured assessment that measures nonprofit governance, financial management, fund development, and impact measurement on a validated 0–10 maturity scale. Two decades of underwriting logic, captured in an algorithm. Free for nonprofits. Designed for the funders, CDFIs, and lenders who need to know what an organization can actually execute — before the grant is made, the loan closes, or the TA engagement begins.
Diagnostics · Capacity Measurement · Portfolio IntelligenceFor organizations that need more than a diagnostic. We co-develop the internal systems — governance structures, fund development frameworks, impact measurement infrastructure — that let an organization perform consistently over time. Engagements are structured, scoped, and designed to leave capacity behind, not dependency.
Governance · Fund Development · IMMWe develop playbooks and pilot models for funders and intermediaries designing community-centered capital strategies. Participatory fund governance, cooperative housing frameworks, neighborhood-based investment systems. Fund What Matters — our playbook for Black alumni associations building giving infrastructure — is the current example of this work in published form.
Alumni Philanthropy · Collective Giving · Capital StrategyThe full governance, financial management, fund development, and impact measurement diagnostic — free permanently for nonprofits tracking their own growth. Institutional tier available for funders, CDFIs, and lenders who need aggregated portfolio data, capacity-ROI reporting, and grantee roll-ups.
A governance and operational playbook for Black alumni associations that want to build independent giving infrastructure — without forming a nonprofit or hiring staff. Designed for a community navigating hostile institutional conditions with no existing philanthropic infrastructure to fall back on.
We prototype a custom Impact Measurement and Management framework for your organization at no cost. Most nonprofits have no system to measure and demonstrate impact. This is the starting point.
